What to do after the procedure
After treatment with enamel matrix proteins a series of processes takes place in the body that should run as undisturbed as possible.
After a regenerative procedure several processes take place in the body one after another. They should proceed as undisturbed as possible – hence these rules.
The first days
Do not brush in the operated area. Avoid hard and solid food and rinse daily with chlorhexidine.
After one to two weeks
The sutures are removed. Rinsing continues, possibly for several more weeks.
From the sixth week
Rinsing can stop. The outer and inner surfaces of the teeth in the operated area may be brushed carefully – the spaces between the teeth not yet.
From the seventh week
Check-up appointment. If the practice considers healing between the teeth complete, those spaces are cleaned again from then on. After that, a check-up every three months.
Even after successful treatment both remain indispensable: consistent oral hygiene and regular check-ups.

Soft, lukewarm food for the first few days. Avoid anything hot, spicy, grainy and alcohol. Chew on the other side while the wound is still tender.
Not the wound itself at first. All other teeth continue to be brushed normally – especially now. For the wound area the practice provides a rinse or gel and says when brushing may resume.
If bleeding does not stop after ten minutes of pressure with a clean cloth, if swelling increases after the third day, with fever, or if the pain grows stronger rather than weaker.
