Regenerative treatment

Regeneration of the periodontium begins immediately after treatment with enamel matrix proteins.

Rebuilding the tooth-supporting apparatus – root cementum, fibre bundles and bone – can be promoted with enamel matrix proteins. They enable the body to re-form the lost tissue itself.

More than stopping the inflammation

Periodontitis therapy has one aim to begin with: to eliminate the bacteria and bring the inflammation to a halt. Regenerative treatment goes a step further and attempts to restore the state that existed before the disease.

Why that makes the difference

If a defect heals without support, scar and connective tissue fill it. The tooth is then covered but not anchored again – its outlook remains poorer. Regenerative methods are meant to prevent exactly that.
